The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is partnering with Content With Purpose (CWP) to create Travel Redefined: Tourism for People and Planet, a wide-ranging digital film series that will explore the world of sustainable travel and tourism. The series aims to build global awareness of tourism’s potential to drive positive social, cultural, environmental, and economic impact.
Faced with challenges such as overtourism and the pressing need to mitigate and adapt to the climate and ecological emergency, a spotlight shines on the tourism industry to lead sustainability efforts and adopt standards that protect the environment and foster a more sustainable future for all.
Through a combination of future-focused content, including short films and interviews, the series will meet inspiring people and organisations from across the globe who are leading the way in sustainable tourism. From forward-thinking initiatives being adopted across the industry, to practical steps taken by those who want to travel more responsibly, Travel Redefined: Tourism for People and Planet will showcase the global movement towards sustainable tourism.
The series will feature stories of best practice in areas such as biodiversity and conservation, waste reduction, poverty alleviation, green mobility, cultural preservation, destination stewardship, guest experience, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), food and beverage, accessibility and inclusion, and more. It will also highlight progress in education, research, innovation and collaboration.
Leading voices for the industry will discuss the challenges and opportunities in improving destination stewardship in different regions around the world, including the value of the GSTC Criteria (global standards for sustainable travel and tourism) , and the critical need to drive progress in tourism planning, policy and management.
The series will launch at the GSTC2025 Global Conference in Fiji, August 2025.
