As the central government body who is in charge of tourism development policy and coordination in the country, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism devotes itself to implement effective and credible sustainable tourism policies in Mongolia.
The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and GSTC have also signed in MOU for promoting sustainable development in tourism in Mongolia through applying the GSTC Framework of Sustainable Tourism Development.
“We are very pleased to welcome the Mongolian Ministry of Environment and Tourism to GSTC,” says Randy Durband, GSTC CEO. “We applaud their sincere desire to take meaningful steps to further increase their approach to sustainable tourism policy and practices.”
H.E. Mr. Tserenbat Namsrai, the Minister of Environment and Tourism highlighted the importance of introducing GSTC’s Criteria to Mongolia’s destinations, tour operators, hotels and tourism camps and wished best of success in the future collaboration of the two organization.
GSTC encourages destinations pursuing sustainability practices in development and management of tourism, to join as GSTC members and apply the GSTC Destination Criteria, which eventually can lead to being certified by a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body.
