The Independent’s Climate 100 List is a prestigious recognition of the extraordinary individuals at the forefront of the global fight against climate change, showcasing unparalleled innovation, unwavering commitment, and transformative leadership that inspire a more sustainable future for all.
GSTC CEO Randy Durband is present on the list and was invited to attend The Independent’s inaugural Climate 100 event, a landmark celebration to honor those committed to the fight against climate change. It took place on the 25th of September in New York City, with esteemed guest speakers – including former UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, John Vaillant, Wawa Gatheru and Bel Trew. Participants delved into current global climate challenges and share their valuable insights – as world leaders gather for the United Nations Summit of the Future.
By celebrating these diverse pioneers – climate activists, innovators, scientists, business leaders, creators, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from around the world- The Independent aims to showcase the wide range of efforts being made to tackle the climate crisis and inspire others to take action. The list covers a diverse array of sectors, reflecting the multifaceted nature of climate solutions and the global urgency to tackle this environmental challenge.
GSTC CEO Randy Durband brings a unique blend of experience from two career paths in tourism spanning 40 years – in senior leadership positions with major U.S. outbound tour operators, including as President of Travcoa, Clipper Cruise Lines, Executive VP of Tauck – and a current second career in sustainable tourism. He is a frequent advisor and speaker to governments and businesses on sustainable tourism policies and implementation. He has served on many tourism boards and committees and as a judge for leading sustainable tourism awards.
