Post-conference tour

After the conference, participants will have the opportunity to join between a guided tour in Sentosa. To join the tour, participants must pre-register and select their preferred tour option in advance due to limited capacity in all tours. Once the tours are open for registration, participants will get instructions to register.

1) Behind the Scenes: Sustainability at Resorts World Sentosa Tour

Embark on a guided tour through Resorts World Sentosa to uncover the array of efforts and innovative solutions implemented to minimise the resort’s environmental footprint. Explore the resort’s commitment to sustainability through the various initiatives aimed at reducing electricity consumption, conserving water resources, minimising the use of disposables, and lowering food waste among others. 2) Southern Islands and Marina Sustainability Discovery 

Journey to Sentosa Cove and Lazarus Island and find out how SDC and island partners come together to create Singapore’s eco-tourism sanctuary at the rustic Southern Islands. From eco-conscious tiny homes (Big Tiny) that blend modern amenities with sustainable design to glamping retreats (Into the Woods) at the pristine beachfront, from non-motorised water activities and cycling (Lazarus Sea Sport Centre and Go Green) that pose minimal disruption to marine life to savouring sustainable delights from Sol by BDC, the Southern Islands welcomes travellers of all ages to reconnect with nature and create meaningful experiences with a small environmental footprint. 3) Sentosa Heritage Bus Tour 

Bringing the distinct character of Sentosa’s colonial past to life, the round-island bus tour introduced guests to Sentosa’s heritage buildings, many of which have been given a fresh lease of life after being converted into hotels such as Capella Singapore, Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa and The Barracks Hotel. Participants will uncover history of various historical sites and a glimpse into the Fort’s history, construction, and its role in Singapore’s defense during World War Two. Join us in this exciting adventure of our remarkable transformation of Pulau Blakang Mati into a world-class leisure destination!

4) Mega Race for Nature 

Embark on an immersive trekking experience through the lush forests of Sentosa Island, where nature and technology converge to offer a unique adventure. With the help of a specially-designed smartphone app by Mega Adventure, participants will race against time to discover the rich biodiversity that thrives within the island’s greenery. Challenge yourself to complete tasks and puzzles along the way, all while learning about the importance of conservation and sustainability. Join us on this thrilling journey across Sentosa, where every step brings you closer to the wonders of biodiversity and the beauty of our planet.

5) RISE Sustainable Sentosa Tour 

Embark on a guided tour at the RISE Exhibition at Sentosa’s Beach Station and discover how 30 members of the Sentosa Carbon Neutral Network collaborate to transform Sentosa into a model sustainable tourist destination. Delve into the innovative initiatives and practices that have been implemented to reduce the environmental impact and promote sustainability across the island. Engage with interactive exhibits, informative displays, and engaging presentations that highlight the importance of sustainability in tourism and the positive impact of collective action. Light refreshments is included. Bring home a surprise gift!

6) Sustainability at Mandai Wildlife Reserve

Mandai Wildlife Reserve is home to the four wildlife parks in Singapore – Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders and BirdParadise. Join us on a guided tour to learn about our efforts in preserving local biodiversity and lowering our environmental impact as we develop and operate sustainably. The tour will include a visit Mandai Bird Paradise, Asia’s largest bird park that is home to 3,500 birds across 8 large walk-through aviaries.

7) HEARTBEAT OF SINGAPORE TOUR

A specially curated experience that dives into the rich history and vibrant culture of Singapore’s Chinatown, designed with a sustainable twist for attendees of the Global Sustainability Tourism Council (GSTC) conference.

On this 3-hour walking tour, we’ll stroll through Chinatown’s bustling streets. You’ll gain insight into how Singaporeans live, work, and play—and how these practices have evolved over time. We’ll admire the beautifully preserved historic shophouses, a nod to Singapore’s colonial past and also tell you about the country’s commitment to architectural conservation. Alongside these heritage buildings, we’ll explore the story behind Singapore’s public housing model, which has played a transformative role in urban planning, allowing for both growth and social cohesion.

No visit to Chinatown would be complete without an introduction to Singapore’s beloved hawker culture, recognized as an Intangible UNESCO World Heritage. You’ll learn about the preservation of traditional foods and flavors, which reflect our multicultural society while also promoting cultural sustainability. As part of this immersive experience, you’ll get to sample a local snack and savor a traditional drink, tasting the flavors that generations of Singaporeans have cherished. Our tour concludes at the Singapore City Gallery, where you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Singapore’s approach to urban planning and sustainability.
