The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) recently held a significant training event in Moldova from the 15th to the 17th of August, 2023.
The National Inbound and Domestic Tourism Association of Moldova (ANTRIM) and Chemonics International organized the courses in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training aimed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and tools to implement sustainable tourism principles in their operations. The trainer was Urs Wagenseil, a Destination Management and Sustainable Development expert, who focused on the situation in Moldova.
The course offered an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the GSTC Criteria and sustainable tourism practices. It included examples of best practices from destinations, tour operators, and accommodation providers around the globe.
Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
Following the initial training, there was also a ‘Training for Trainers.’ This training was conducted in the days immediately after the Sustainable Tourism (ST Course). It was designed for those who wanted to gain a deeper understanding of GSTC and had previously done the ST Course, aiming to broaden the knowledge of local professionals and specialists from the tourism regions in Moldova.
GSTC will continue cooperating with Moldova to advance sustainable tourism practices in the industry.
