The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course for the Organization for Promotion of Tourism in Shikoku held in Takamatsu, Kagawa, Japan from the 19th to the 21st of August, 2024 concluded successfully. A total of 30 participants successfully attended the training. The sessions were led by GSTC Trainer, Kazuhiro Arai, Representative of Daisetsuzan Nature School.


As part of the training, participants visited Tamamo Park, where they learned about efforts to preserve cultural properties and maintain historical heritage. They also explored Takamatsu Marugamemachi Shopping Street, where they observed initiatives for separating, collecting, and recycling food waste, gaining insights into sustainable waste management practices in an urban setting.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course equipped participants with indispensable knowledge and skills essential for advocating sustainable tourism practices. It served as an immersive experience, allowing attendees to explore the GSTC Criteria, which are recognized globally as the standards for sustainability in tourism and travel.
Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
