The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course sponsored by the Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) held from the 28th of October to the 31st of October concluded successfully. A total of 21 participants successfully attended the training in Tokyo. The sessions were led by GSTC Trainer Kazuhiro Arai, a Representative of Daisetsuzan Nature School.
Participants had the chance to explore real-world applications of sustainability through a series of site visits. During their visit to the Shibuya and Omotesando area, they examined local initiatives aimed at raising awareness of public manners, including this year’s specific measures. They also observed an example of urban waste management through the absence of public trash cans. Additionally, they gained insights into the challenges of balancing community concerns with tourism development.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills for advocating sustainable tourism practices; allowing attendees to explore the GSTC Criteria, the global standards for sustainability in tourism and travel.
Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
