The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course sponsored by the Nagano Tourism Organization for  Iida City, Nagano, concluded successfully. A total of 22 participants attended the training that was held from the 3rd to the 5th of July, 2024. The sessions were led by GSTC Trainer Kazuhiro Arai, Representative of Daisetsuzan Nature School.

During the site visit, participants explored the Agricultural Corporation Imadaira, where they reflected on how agricultural experiences can attract visitors to the region as a form of sustainable tourism, contributing to the local economy. They also learned about ongoing efforts to address the challenge of a declining agricultural workforce. Additionally, they visited Suzuoka Castle Ruins Park, gaining insights into the historical and cultural significance of the site.

The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course equipped participants with indispensable knowledge and skills essential for advocating sustainable tourism practices. It served as an immersive experience, allowing attendees to explore the GSTC Criteria, which are recognized globally as the standards for sustainability in tourism and travel.

Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
