The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training in Athens, Greece, which was held at the Ava Hotel on March 28th and 29th, 2024, in the Greek language, concluded successfully. It was conducted in partnership with GSTC Training Partner Green Evolution and had Travel Daily News as a media sponsor.
The training was led by Dr. Ioannis Pappas, GSTC Program Director Mediterranean Region and GSTC Trainer, who shared his knowledge and expertise with practical examples and valuable insights. Mr. Spyros Kagkas Digital & Community Manager from Athens Development and Destination Management Agency was a guest speaker at the training.
“It was really a pleasure to have after COVID-19 period an on-site training in Greece, in Greek! The interaction with such great participants from many Greek Destinations generated a new network of people that will act as ambassadors on Sustainable Tourism all over Greece and beyond!” said Dr. Pappas.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course provided participants with the essential knowledge and skills to champion sustainable tourism practices. It presented an excellent opportunity to delve into the GSTC Criteria the global standards for sustainability in tourism and travel. The inclusion of global and local case studies enhanced the value of the training.
Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
