The 2017 PM4SD (Project Management for Sustainable Development) Summer School took place in Sila National Park, Calabria, Italy, on 4-8 October 2017.
The Summer School aimed to contribute to the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development focusing on “Leadership and Governance for Sustainable Tourism”.
Dr. Dave Randle, GSTC Board Member, gave a keynote speech about “Village Nature: a European partnership investment Disneyland and Pierre & Vacances”, while Dr. Ioannis Pappas, GSTC Board Member and Greece Country Representative, talked at the session “PM4SD, ETIS and Global Sustainable Tourism Council Criteria based Certification Schemes”.
Mr. Luigi Cabrini, GSTC Chair, moderated the session “Managing tourism destinations: Adventures of Overtourism”.
The Summer School brought together key representatives of the tourism sector: donors, policy makers, industry representatives, project management practitioners, academics and entrepreneurs to share practices on how to plan and manage sustainable tourism projects and how effectively monitor sustainable project management benefits within the tourism sector.
The Summer School is the PM4SD™ annual event, promoting it as the methodology to apply in tourism projects and to discuss the professionalization of project management in sustainable tourism.
The Summer School is organized by FEST, the host organization SILA National Park and the European Travel Commission.
