GSTC Launches New Sustainable MICE Course to Advance Sustainability in the MICE Industry

The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is proud to announce the launch of its new training program tailored specifically for the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. This milestone follows the publication of the GSTC MICE Criteria last year, marking a significant step in promoting sustainable practices across events globally.

The new GSTC Sustainable MICE Course is designed to equip event planners, venues and exhibitions with the knowledge and tools to implement the GSTC MICE Criteria effectively. This comprehensive program will delve into sustainability principles, strategies for reducing environmental impacts, and approaches to enhance the social and economic benefits of events. Participants will also gain insights into best practices, enabling them to align with global sustainability standards.

As the events industry continues to grow, so does its environmental and social footprint. The GSTC MICE Criteria serve as a globally recognized framework to guide the industry toward more sustainable practices. The training program not only will support stakeholders in applying these Criteria but also fosters collaboration across the value chain, helping the MICE sector to lead by example in sustainable practices.

“This training is designed to empower professionals and organizations to embrace sustainability practices that not only benefit communities and protect natural resources but also elevate attendee experiences, all while laying the foundation for truly sustainable events,” said Randy Durband, GSTC CEO

The program will be delivered through online and in-person formats. The inaugural online session will kick off in March 2025, with registration details to be announced soon.
