GSTC in Japan: Speaking at JAFIT National Conference on “Realization of Sustainable Tourism”
On 28 October 2017 the JAFIT National Conference on “Realization of Sustainable Tourism” took place at Toyo University in Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Roi Ariel, GSTC General Manager, was the keynote speaker at the conference, presenting “Realization of Sustainable Tourism through Global Standards”.
JAFIT (Japanese Foundation for International Tourism) chose the theme of “Realization of Sustainable Tourism” to celebrate the “2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development”.
“The definition of sustainable tourism might differ from one country to another, or from one organization to another,” said Mr. Ariel. “This is why the GSTC Criteria was developed, as a global set of baseline criteria organized around four pillars of sustainability, and to foster increased understanding of sustainable tourism practices and the adoption of universal sustainable tourism principles.”
