GSTC General Manager, Roi Ariel was a keynote speaker at the 67th Anniversary of the Taiwan Visitors Association, held on the 13th of December 2023.
In his presentation titled ‘Sustainable Tourism as the Future of Tourism,’ Mr. Ariel highlighted the urgent need for integrating sustainable practices in the tourism sector, sharing insightful examples and case studies from Taiwan and around the world. His speech emphasized the importance of the GSTC Criteria, the global standards for sustainability in tourism and travel, and that action needs to be taken as soon as possible.
Ending the speech, Mr. Ariel stressed that “to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, it’s not only an obligation for the tourism sector to be part of the work, but it’s actually an opportunity.”
The event served as a platform to exchange ideas and expertise among the attendees, who left with inspiration and equipped with practical knowledge and innovative ideas. The 67th Anniversary celebration not only commemorated the past achievements of the Taiwan Visitors Association but also charted a hopeful and sustainable future for the years to come.
Vice President Ching-te Lai attended the event and said in his speech that tourism is an important strategic industry in Taiwan.
Along with Roi Ariel, Li Houqing, secretary-general of the Chinese Cultural Association, was also invited to share how to “Market Taiwan with Creativity”.
