GSTC at IAAPA APAC Sustainability Summit 2025

GSTC was present at the IAAPA APAC Sustainability Summit, held on the 13th and 14th of March 2025 in Singapore. The two-day, in-person event brought together industry leaders, innovators, and sustainability advocates. It featured discussions, expert insights, and networking opportunities focused on advancing sustainable practices in the attractions sector.

Dr. Mihee Kang, GSTC’s Chief Assurance Officer, participated in the “Sustainable Futures: Visionary Pathways for Tourism and Attractions” panel discussion, contributing with her expertise. The session explored visionary pathways for the future of sustainable tourism, where Dr. Kang engaged in insightful discussions on responsible tourism practices and strategies to drive sustainability in the attractions sector. Alongside Andreas Andersen, CEO and President of Liseberg, and Ong Huey Hong, Chief Sustainability Officer of the Singapore Tourism Board, Dr. Kang emphasized the importance of the latest GSTC Attraction Criteria as key for guiding attractions toward more sustainable operations.

«The GSTC Attraction Criteria is a unified global standard for all types of attractions—large or small, urban or nature-based, anywhere in the world. It establishes a common language for sustainability, ensuring that attractions, regardless of their size or location, have clear guidelines to follow. By adopting it, attractions will contribute to a more responsible tourism industry.» Said Dr. Mihee Kang, Chief Assurance Officer, GSTC.

Participants also attended educational sessions led by industry experts and explored best practices through exclusive EDUTours of attractions such as Rainforest Wild Asia, Universal Studios Singapore, and Sentosa Sensoryscape.
