The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course in Siena, Italy, held on June 6th and 7th, 2024, at the headquarters of Confesercenti Siena, concluded successfully. It was the first GSTC Training delivered in the Italian language. 

Federica Bosco, GSTC Trainer, Vice Chair of the GSTC Italy Working Group, and Sustainable Tourism Manager at ETIFOR Valuing Nature, led the training. She shared her knowledge and expertise with practical examples and valuable insights. 

The training featured distinguished guest speakers: Daniela Vecchiato, Director at Alpe Cimbra DMO; Verena Pasca, Sustainability Manager at Alpe Cimbra DMO and Barbara Marcato, Sustainability Manager at Hotel Moresco.

The First GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course in Italian Concludes in Siena Successfully

“The path for sustainable tourism in Siena, Tuscany (Italy) has started long ago, resulting in the destination certification against the GSTC standard in 2023. The process has inspired the surrounding territories that are now willing to join the challenge. The engagement of participants promises to bring excellent future improvements and the appreciated presence of the City Tourism Councilor Vanna Giunti showed a clear commitment. We thank all participants who joined the first official GSTC Training in Italian” said Mrs. Bosco.

The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course provided participants with the essential knowledge and skills to champion sustainable tourism practices. It presented an excellent opportunity to delve into the GSTC Criteria the global standards for sustainability in tourism and travel. The inclusion of global and local case studies enhanced the value of the training.

Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
