Rita Kuan, Market Development Manager at the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), will take the stage at MICE Show Asia and ITB Asia 2024, which will be held on October 23 to 25, 2024, at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
MICE Show Asia, gathers professionals from across the travel industry to explore new trends and sustainable practices. Kuan’s participation underscores GSTC’s role in guiding businesses towards sustainability by adopting the GSTC MICE Criteria and driving positive environmental, social, and economic outcomes in the MICE Industry.
Ms. Kuan will participate in a one-hour informal conversation about “Driving Sustainability: Strategies for a Greener Future in the MICE Industry,” on the 25th of October, with esteemed co-speakers: Chua Mun Yuen (Vice President of Research & Sustainability at Resorts World Sentosa), Ian Gan (Chief Sustainability Officer at Singapore EXPO), and Adam Piperdy (Founder & Chief Experience Officer of Unearthed Production). This session will provide an opportunity for attendees to dive into innovative strategies that can advance sustainability across the MICE industry.
She will also be at ITB Asia, Asia’s leading travel trade show, co-located with MICE Show Asia and Travel Tech Asia, in the session “Driving Sustainability: Harnessing GSTC Standards for a Resilient Tourism Future” the 24th of October at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, B2 Knowledge Theatre.
Ian Gan and Adam Piperdy, the co-speakers of Ms. Kuan in the MICE Show Asia, are also the speakers at GSTC Global Conference #GSTC2024Singapore at the panel “Sustainable Events” where along with other colleagues, will share insights on implementing sustainable practices throughout the event lifecycle, from venue selection and waste management to catering and transportation. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge on minimizing the environmental impact of events while enhancing social and economic benefits for local communities. Case studies and best practices will highlight relevant models for hosting sustainable MICE events.
GSTC2024 Singapore will be held at the Equarius Hotel, certified against GSTC Industry Criteria for Hotels. The hotel is located within Resorts World Sentosa, the first destination in the world certified to both the GSTC Destination Criteria and GSTC Industry Criteria for Hotels in 2021. Additionally, both Sentosa and Singapore are also certified as sustainable destinations, further enhancing the credentials of the event’s setting.
