The ‘March Lunch and Learn’ event, hosted by the Canmore Hotel & Lodging Association, focused on collaborative efforts to advance regenerative tourism in Canmore and Kananaskis. Located in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, the region is known for its natural landscapes and outdoor recreation opportunities.

The event provided an opportunity for industry professionals to share insights, explore available resources, and discuss initiatives aimed at supporting responsible tourism and long-term environmental stewardship.

The session featured guest speakers:

  • Rachel Ludwig from Tourism Canmore Kananaskis outlined the resources available to all properties through Pledge to the Peaks and Peaks Academy. 
  • Gareth Thomson and Jackie Kinney from the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley discussed their collaboration with Tourism Canmore Kananaskis on the Regenerative Tourism Action Plan.
  • GSTC at Canmore Hotel & Lodging Association EventTiffany Chan, GSTC’s Destination Program Manager explained GSTC’s role in supporting hotels and destinations and talked about the importance of the GSTC Criteria, the global standards for sustainable tourism and travel.
