Dr. Ioannis Pappas, Director for the Mediterranean Region at the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), has been formally invited to serve as a member of the DMO and Ecosystem Board for the D3Hub (Data-Driven Destinations Hub).
D3Hub, an EU Competence center, is dedicated to assisting tourism destinations in adopting data-driven approaches for greener and more sustainable development. The initiative focuses on empowering Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing tailored digital solutions, data-sharing frameworks, and sustainability-focused strategies. As a member of the DMO and Ecosystem Board, Dr. Pappas will play a key role in shaping the project’s direction, offering insights on sustainable tourism practices, and contributing to a wide range of tasks.
Furthermore, Dr. Pappas will assist along with other board members, in the testing and implementation phases of D3Hub’s pilot programs, designed to help European destinations transition toward data-driven management and more sustainable practices. Through his advisory role, he will ensure that sustainable tourism remains a driving force behind the initiative’s innovative solutions, ultimately contributing to the broader goal of creating a more resilient, responsible, and data-informed tourism industry across Europe.
