The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), the largest collection of independent luxury hotels with more than 400 properties in over 80 countries, unveiled their Sustainability Leaders Collection in September. From modern metropolitan towers to tented jungle sanctuaries, the collection was created to recognize Leading Hotels that are committed to preserving the environment and the cherished values and cultural heritage of their destinations. This initiative assists sustainable-conscious travelers in discovering these establishments.
The GSTC Criteria serves as the foundation for the Sustainability Leaders Collection. With deep-rooted connections to their communities and surrounding environments, more than 60 Leading Hotels are currently acknowledged as a ‘Sustainability Leader’.
A hotel bearing the Sustainability Leaders acknowledgment has undergone comprehensive evaluation being certified by a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body, or has been verified by a GSTC-Recognized Standard Owner.
This ensures their dedication to effective sustainability planning, enhancing benefits for local communities, preserving cultural heritage, and minimizing environmental footprints.
In addition, LHW has partnered with three GSTC-Recognized Standards, Green Globe, Green Key Global, Travelife, and a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body, Vireo Srl, to offer their hotels resources and tools to advance their sustainability strategies.
