Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau sponsored the GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training for DMO’s staff and government stakeholders in Tainan, Taiwan. The two-day training in Chinese was held from April 18th to 19th, 2023.
The training was led by GSTC Trainer, Ms. Monique Chen, GSTC Trainer, Co-founder & Chair of Sustainable Travel Taiwan, and guest speakers Roi Ariel, GSTC General Manager, Hsinyi Chou, Secretary, Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hualien, Joanne Chang, Director of Rotation Management LTD and Amo Kao, Manager from Footprint Inn (certified as a sustainable hotel since 2019 by GSTC-Accredited Certification Body Control Union), who shared their knowledge and expertise with practical examples and valuable insights.
« The city of Tainan is celebrating its 400-year-old birthday and this training was a very good chance for the city government to build capacity inside the team and implement more sustainable management actions to make the historical city a global green tourism destination and at the same time raise the sustainable awareness of local tourism industry,” said Ms. Chen.
The GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course provided participants with the essential knowledge and skills to champion sustainable tourism practices. It presented an excellent opportunity to delve into the GSTC Criteria the global standards for sustainability in tourism and travel. The inclusion of global and local case studies enhanced the value of the training.
Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
