Bestival On July 6-7, 2023, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) participated in Berlin’s MICE & Travel Business Festival, Bestival, where they hosted « Have your say – Global Sustainable MICE Criteria Exchange. »

During the festival, attendees had the opportunity to explore various experience areas, including « Berlin Sustainable, » « Lifestyle, » « Culture, » « Community, » and « Berlin Innovation. » Each area featured presentations, live acts, and panel discussions. The Global Sustainable MICE Criteria Exchange by GSTC took place at the « Berlin Sustainable » Area.

The event was open to professionals in the MICE industry, sustainability enthusiasts, and anyone curious about innovative approaches to the MICE Industry. The exchange provided a unique opportunity for participants to contribute to the development of the GSTC MICE Criteria.Bestival

At the event, attendees had the chance to delve into each criterion related to venues, event organizers, and events/exhibitions. They were encouraged to share their comments and vote on the importance of each criterion. Fun games were also part of the experience, adding an enjoyable touch to the discussions.

The venue for this insightful event was The Heeresbäckerei in Berlin Kreuzberg – In the Sage Berlin, and it took place from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Those who were registered for the Festival had the option to contact GSTC’s representative in advance.

The moderators for the Global Sustainable MICE Criteria Exchange were Tatiana Agudelo Monguí, GSTC’s Membership Coordinator, and Nicola Koschel, GSTC’s International Standards Committee & Assurance Panel Sustainable Tourism Consultant.

Overall, the event proved to be an enriching and engaging experience for all involved, with attendees having their say in shaping the future of sustainable practices in the MICE industry.
