HIC Summit 2024, held in the vibrant setting of Ibiza, Spain, brought together an array of professionals, destinations, scientists, and businesses to engage in meaningful dialogues focused on this year’s theme “Innovation, Tourism, and Regenerative Culture” to explore how these elements can shape the future of the industry.
The HIC Forum is the main event of the HIC Summit and this year it addressed topics such as resilience, challenges and opportunities for businesses and tourism destinations, destination security, tourism intelligence, and digital transformation among others.
Luigi Cabrini, Chair of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), was among the keynote speakers in the forum, sharing insights on the growing importance of sustainability practices in tourism and how the GSTC Criteria, the global standards for sustainability in travel and tourism are key to advance on the sustainability journey. Mr. Cabrini also talked about the soon to be launch GSTC Attraction Criteria and the new set of Criteria that will be developed for food service providers in tourism.

HIC organized 7 themed events over 3 days. The sessions were held in exclusive locations across the island of Ibiza, with a limited number of attendees, focused on sharing knowledge and fostering networking. Each event provided an interactive environment for participants to engage in discussions, and presentations, all designed to inspire forward-thinking solutions and strengthen professional networks in the industry.
Since its inception in 2019, HIC has brought together over 170 expert speakers and attracted more than 4,000 attendees across 22 countries, hosting 11 successful summits to date. This track record highlights HIC’s role for addressing the evolving trends and challenges in the industry.
